Columbia River Gorge Energy

The Columbia Gorge creates many types of energy that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels.  Fossil fuels can’t be replaced and are used in many parts of our life, but they cause global warming and damage the ozone layer.  The first type of energy is hydroelectric power.  This uses river water and dams to send electricity to homes.  Second, there is solar power.  This uses solar panels to collect sunlight.  Finally, there is wind power, which uses turbines that take advantage of the wind through the gorge.    Help the Columbia Gorge and the Earth by turning off lights and taking alternative transportation such as walking or biking.

Drive to Hood River

On the drive to Hood River we saw lots of cool features along the Columbia Gorge. For example, we saw wind turbines on a hill across the river. There were more than 100 0f them! We also saw the Vista House, which is a view place overlooking the Columbia Gorge. We saw beautiful Multnomah Falls, which is a great place to hike and an awesome waterfall. We also saw the Bonneville dam, which was lit up at night. Finally, we saw the Bridge of the Gods, a famous bridge. The drive to Hood River had a great view and was lots of fun.
